Exploring Library Anxiety Among the Undergraduate Students at Noakhali Science and Technology University

This study aims to explore library anxiety among undergraduate students at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). Library anxiety is a condition that arises from fear, uncertainty, and discomfort experienced by students when using the library. It also provides recommendations for overcoming the problems that hinder the development of library anxiety. Based on a quantitative research approach, a survey research design was used. Questionnaire was employed in the collection of data from 254 undergraduate students. The responses were coded, captured and analyzed using IBM’s Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 25. The data through the questionnaire was collected from Out of 5005 populations of the study, data were collected from 254 undergraduate students at NSTU using a convenient sampling technique. The participants were randomly selected and participated voluntarily in the study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data, and descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were employed to analyze the data. The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on library anxiety and help identify potential interventions to alleviate it among undergraduate students at NSTU. The study is expected to provide insights into the factors that contribute to library anxiety, including the role of library staff, library resources, and the learning environment. Ultimately, the study aims to provide practical recommendations to university administrators, librarians, and other stakeholders to create a supportive and welcoming learning environment for students at NSTU. In the perspective of Bangladesh, there is no reported study on library anxiety at Noakhali Science and Technology University library. The findings of this study will not only provide useful investigate regarding present status about NSTU library anxiety but also indicate the university authorities to promote and enrich services.
