Since the deregulation of broadcasting in Nigeria, the citizenry has had to contend with the emergence of on-air personalities who lack the creativity and technicalities of the profession. NBC’s pressure for local content production has compelled pluralistic broadcasting stations in the country to hire content staff in compliance with the order. In proffering solution to the complaints from audiences, ombudsmen, neutral observers and scholars, this paper reviewed corpus literature on the technicalities required of on-air personalities, particularly on Nigerian radio, and recommends them alongside periodic capacity training for such broadcast practitioners to ensure effective communication and optimum performance.
